With a coupon I bought DELIRIUM, which I have heard only good things about.

Okay I find Marilyn Manson absolutely fasinating and smart. And his music is pretty good too. So I bought this autobiography.

Perfect by Sara Shepard

This is the third installment in the Pretty Little Liars series and I think it was a stellar follow-up to FLAWLESS. I really can't say which has been my favorite so far though.

More suspense and mystery is in PERFECT and it is intensely intriguing as to who murdered Ali and who A is. And I personally cannot wait to find out everything!

My favorite character for some reason is Hanna and I especially love her in the TV series. She's a bit superficial but I find her the most fasinating of all the characters.

I'm just going to let it be known that PERFECT ends with a cliffhanger as a result of some shocking revelatons!

I will say though that in my opinion, this book was not earthshatteringly good! I'm sure UNBELIEVABLE will be, which is the next installment I am reading.

Hi everyone! Here's what I bought:

I ordered CANDY after seeing the movie. It is so good! One of my favorites. I never quite realized what a great actor Heath Ledger was until I saw this movie.

CRAZY BEAUTIFUL looks so good! It's a retelling of Beauty and the Beast.

VESPER looks really good and the cover is beautiful.

I've been getting into NIN recently and usually I don't read biographies if their is an autobiography on the same person. I this case, there is no autobiography of Trent Reznor. Autobiographys/memoirs are my favorite kind of books.

The Clique Graphic Novel by Lisi Harrison and Yishan Li

I was excited and curious to read the graphic novel adaptation of the first novel in The Clique series. However, I was a bit disapointed.

I was a bit bored with the dialogue which was the exact same as the novel. I recognized exact phrases and event and I felt like I was reading the adapted novel just with drawings as well.
Some may like this though, that it was kept very much like the original.

As an example, I really liked the graphic novel adaptation of the first book in the Gossip Girl series-- GORGEOUS drawings and the plot was changed up, much like the TV show is different from the books.

I will say, however, the drawings in THE CLIQUE GRAPHIC NOVEL were really good and nice. If you are a Clique fan you will likely be entertained by this graphic novel.

This book I actually started reading about, it's the autobiography of Lenny Bruce. He was a comedian who spoke out against the hypocrisies of society and was arrested for both the language he used as well as subject matter. Something that is very much a part of our culture today. If you'd like a brief introduction about him, the movie LENNY starring Dustin Hoffman, is VERY good.

This book I bought cuz it looks like a cute, short book.

This was bought for the same reason.

This book as well as FALL FOR ANYTHING, have been the December releases I've been most looking forward too. I love the Private series!!

I was SO excited for this book. I loved CRACKED UP TO BE. Still have to read SOME GIRLS ARE though.

Kate Brian is a master of suspense and mystery.

Gossip Girl manga For Your Eyes Only vol. 1 by Cecily von Ziegesar and Hyekyung Baek

Being a fan of Gossip Girl for 6 years, I had to read the manga adaptation.

What I really liked about this manga was that it was a bit different from the novel, Baek interpreted it differently while staying true to the original story. It kept it from getting boring. In contrast, the Clique manga was almost identical to the novel, I recognized alot of the dialogue and it made it to be a bit boring.

The drawings in this adaptions were really beautiful and gorgeous.

If you are a fan of Gossip Girl, be it the show or the novel or both, or if you are a fan of manga, even if it's not right to left, you should check this adaptation out.

A Girl Named Mister by Nikki Grimes

So this book is about a girl who is a Christian and then gets a boyfriend, has sex with him and gets pregnant. During all this she has found parallels with her life and that with Mary, mother of Jesus.

I found this book very interesting, and a different way of telling the story was adding the perspectives of Mary from the Bible. DARK SONS by Nikki Grimes did the same type thing, parellels with a biblical person and that of a fictional character.

This book was done in verse, which made it quick to read and had a nice flow. It was easy to read and to understand.

Teen prenancy is not really an original idea but that's because it happens all the time and thus needs to be written about.

More books like A GIRL NAMED MISTER and DARK SONS from Nikki Grimes would be great and I would definatly read them.

FALL FOR ANYTHING is about a girl whose father commits suicide and so she's grieving over that. Then she meets one of his students that knows alot about him, possibly even the mystery of his death, and there is a definate attraction between them.

Fight Club by Chuck Palahniuk

I think this post will just be a review of endless gushing. I read this book after growing helplessly attached to the movie. Edward Norton. Everything, it was just so different. Could it even be considered a movie? It deals with so many issues, brings forth so many ideas, it's insane. It's so different.

The book is just as amazing. Palahniuk's style is impossible to immitate genuinely. Alot of the lines, the memorable quotes from the movie, are in the book. There is some stuff that is not in the movie and vice versa. I'd say that the book gives more detail of Project Mayhem.

The ending is a bit different, kind of disapointing but does nothing to taint the overall spectacularness of FIGHT CLUB.

What do I love about FIGHT CLUB, the philosophies and the ways of life of Tyler Durden. It basically contradicts everything you've ever been told. Being free of the expectations and norms of society. I love the brutality of it, 'no holds bared' of the fighting as well as the ideas.

There is nothing more exciting than FIGHT CLUB.

Sorry, no summary because my pasteing is not working on Blogger.

What a cool book! Unlike any book I've ever read before. With Scott Westerfeld you can pretty much assume that the book is gonna be original. I had bought this book (hardcover for about $1.65!) and my friend who is a huge Westerfeld fan said that it was really good and that I should read it. So I did.

The whole concept of these people who are always on the lookout for cool things to market was very interesting, even though I would never do what they do. It would go against my anti-consuerism beliefs. But all the cool things they found sounded awesome nonetheless, especially those shoes you'll read about if you haven't read this book already.

The Pokemon story was very interesting and I was wondering if it was real and what made it even more so was that it was real. Westerfeld adding real stories to SO YESTERDAY was really neat.

Please read this book. It's insanely original and intriguing. The characters are pretty cool and it's by Scott Westerfeld.

I think I will personally find this book to read because I hate contol and government control very very much. Reading the summary the cover makes so much sense. The cover is not only beautiful but matches the summary so well. The cover brings to mind Pink Floyd's THE WALL.

I just remembered that my blogoversity for three years has passed. I thought it was in early October. Turns out I've been blogging since September 30th 2007.
Handle Like Hendrix started out as a fashion, books and music blog. Thus the title has nothing to do with music.
It wasn't until March of 2009, however, that I decided to fully dedicate my blog to books.

I want to read this alot. First I have to read BEAUTIFUL CREATURES which is one of the 10 books I'm planning to read next.

This was bought as a Globe and Mail bestseller off Amazon.ca which means it was half price!!

Finally bought PARANORMALCY, supposed to be an excellent excellent debut!

Melvin Burgess is one of my favorite authors. SARA'S FACE, DOING IT and of course my favorite YA novel, JUNK, are my favorites of his. The copy I got has a different cover and is in paperback because NICHOLAS DANE has been out for over a year here in Canada.

So yay!! Tucker Max's new book is out. I have been reading his first book I HOPE THEY SERVE BEEER IN HELL. It is so funny!!!

I plan to read HUSH, HUSH next so I can read CRESCENDO.

An Unseemly Man: My Life as Pornographer, Pundit and Social Outcast by Larry Flynt

Larry Flynt is my hero seriously. After watching THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT numerous times I have concluded that. So that's why I read this book. And I really really liked it.

I'm Canadian but I find The First Amendment very VERY important to America even so. Larry Flynt has spent his whole career defending that Amendment. He even took a bullet for it and is now parallyzed from the waist-down.

I'm a very firm believer in freedom of speech and the importance of it. This book, to me, was a triumph. There were so many legal battles and issues Mr. Flynt went through but later found victory in the Spreme Court case of Flynt vs. Jerry Falwell.

It's so ridiculous how driven authorities and people are to 'protect' us from what they see as 'explicit'. But we cannot restrict reality. And still today censorship is still an issue and we still need to work hard for our freedom.

This book is one of theg best I've read so far this year. I reccomend it to anyone who believes in the freedom of unpopular speech.

Today when I went on Amazon.ca there was a notice on the front page that said that to get free shipping you only need to spend $25 instead of $39!!
I read an article a few days back and I recall it being about wanting to make Amazon.ca more like Amazon.com. I'm not sure though. I do recall that $25 is what gets the Americans free shipping on Amazon.com. I think.
Although the downside of this is that now my packages will have less books.

Nora should have know her life was far from perfect. The farther Nora delves into the mystery of her father's death, the more she comes to question if her Nephilim blood line has something to do with it as well as why she seems to be in danger more than the average girl. Since Patch isn't answering her questions and seems to be standing in her way, she has to start finding the answers on her own. Relying too heavily on the fact that she has a guardian angel puts Nora at risk again and again. But can she really count on Patch or is he hiding secrets darker than she can even imagine?

So excited for CRESCENDO because I have heard only good things of HUSH, HUSH. CRESCENDO will be released October 19th 2010

Dark Sons by Nikki Grimes

This Coretta Scott King Honor book for young adults from bestselling and award-winning author Nikki Grimes uses free-verse poetry to tell the dual stories of Sam, a teen whose dad leaves him and his mother for another woman, and Ishmael, the son of Abraham, who must deal with a different type of rejection when Isaac arrives.

What a brilliant idea. To parallel a biblical persons life with that of a present day. Written in free verse it was easy to read and it was also short. I recall it being 200 pages or just under.

DARK SONS was really interesting, never boring and a really good story. It was a pretty stellar book. Definantly not preachy or anything either.

Nikki Grimes wrote a book written with the same idea as DARK SONS but with Mary mother of Jesus. It was very good. Gries should write even more books like this.

Zoe is quite interesting, she is very impulsive and phycotic as well as stubborn(I am too very much, and I see it as a good thing). Henry really was Zoe's life and this book was about her learning learning to cope with the relisation that Henry does not define who she is, you know?

So in my opinion, don't rush out and buy this book but if you need a quick read, you got it.

GOLDENGIRL was pretty good. For maybe the first half of it I was kind of wondering where the book was going and what conflicts it would bring forth. Reagen is the new girl and I liked her because she was interesting and very mysterious. So I knew something would happen involving her.

The characters could get a bit annoying, even Spencer, who writes the majority of the blog posts in this book. But it wasn't a big problem that I couldn't finish the book.

The format ths book is written in, blog posts, is very unique and I didn't feel like I was getting stupid from reading it this way. The blog posts were lenghthy for the most part and used proper English. So that's good.

How it all played out in the end was interesting and clever, as endings often are. There was something missing from this series. I much prefer Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars and Private, but I will still read the next book, FASHIONISTA.
